Exquisite and rare kneeling mats from Tanzania (Ilala District). Very fine workmanship. These are vintage pieces, nine in all, ranging in size from 6” square to 9” x 7-1/2” and are all in excellent unused condition. New old stock from a mid-century importer. Today, if you can find one, they run about $50 and up, each. By comparison, there is a single one listed on a major platform as “Antique North African 19th Century Small Rush Woven May” for $209, which has a much less complex pattern. Suitable for framing wholesale individually, or in a large frame as a statement piece. Great for the collection of a basket maker or weaver, also for the collector of traditional tribal African art.
